History:
Our club began in 1956 as a Junior Club with 21 charter members, but when the present members were all over 50, we changed the name to Woman’s Club of Bismarck. We celebrated our 50 year anniversary in 2006. A past member is now the mayor of Bismarck. Over the years we have taken tours, done many different fundraisers and made a lot of good friends. We have donated money to the schools, the fire department, the school libraries and to various projects. In 2000 we promoted recycling bins for Bismarck. Over the years we have made thousands of cookies for the elderly and teachers. We now have 19 members ranging from early twenties to early sixties.
Club Committees:
We have a chairperson for 6 departments such as art, conservation, education, home life & health, international affairs, public affairs, memorials/flowers. We also have a chairperson for our special projects as public relations, child violence and community improvement.
Projects:
Our big project is to replace the play equipment in the Lion’s Club Park. What little equipment we have is over 50 years old. We hope to give our future generation a healthy start. We also earn money to give two scholarships each year to students attending D.A.C.C.
Each prospective new member must attend at least one meeting before her name is submitted to the board for membership. A member must pay dues annually. Our club colors are blue and white and the club flower is the American Beauty Rose.
We WELCOME New Members
